Masha Ma S/S 2011

Have I forgotten to share with you one of my favorites from London Fashion Week last month? (I hadn't started this blog at the time...) It is long overdue but it's absolutely my responsibility to feed your eyes with candy.

Masha Ma completed her MA in Women’s Wear at Central Saint Martins in 2008. Her MA collection was selected to show at London Fashion Week and subsequently bought by B store. Not surprisingly, she has been featured everywhere from Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar to Another Magazine, Cosmopolitan, L’Officiel and Pop.

Looking for that extra bit of ‘je ne sais quoi’? Her style is chic and modern without being over the top. Her S/S 2011 collection is inspired by the 1950s, outlining the beauty of the feminine silhouette.

What I love about her collection is its simplicity, exactly as described, giving a touch of elegance without shouting for attention. The minty colors and futuristic gleam of the clothing is very "cyber chic," for lack of better words.

 Marina Ekroos' Visual Recipe

Lovely aren't they? If they sold a book full of these, I'd be the first to buy it. Definitely a clever way of capturing the essence of cooking...

Parlez-vous français?

Bonne nuit. Just returned home from my friend's birthday dinner at Melisse on Wilshire (it's 1AM by the way). Like I've always said, anything French just seems beautiful me, but French cuisine... well let's just say it may be a little bit too pricey for my taste. I recall celebrating my anniversary with Edwin in August at some fancy snobby French restaurant in Hong Kong that cost us probably 6000HKD (approximately 800USD) but my tummy was utterly disgusted and dissatisfied. (sadface)

Tonight it was a whopping 225USD for my 10 course meal. I was a very happy child, that is, before the check dropped onto our table.

(I had only begun taking photos after my 2nd main course, too busy chitchatting before that)

... so here we go

Prime Beef Rib Eye and Braised Wagyu Beef Cheek

Pont L'Eveque Tart
White Chocolate and Macadamia
Pomegranate and Vanilla Sorbet

L'amour.

S

For those of you who haven't yet crossed paths with one of my favorite directors, Sofia Coppola, I would love for you to take some time to look into her work. Loved for her sense of aesthetics, art direction, and set decoration in her films, she is a walking lifestyle of all the pretty little things I embrace.

"The Virgin Suicides" was an intriguing film I stumbled upon quite a few years back while browsing along the aisles of Blockbuster. Just the film name itself sounded quite like something that would interest me. Turns out it was a beautifully shot film with an interesting plot, nothing astonishingly sophisticated but definitely a story to tell.

This photo album is just beautiful. Thought I'd begin my blog with one of my heaviest influences and strongest inspirations-- Sofia Coppola-- a name to be remembered.
Voilà!

So I finally decided that it was time to hop onto the Blogspot train and join the, you know, "hipper" crowd in the blogging world..

Ahemm.. after countless attempts in abandoning Xanga for something new and better, yes, I have now resorted to Blogger. The only word that comes to mind in retrospect is nostalgia-- imagine all those tears shed upon my keyboard over the past seven years of Xanga membership. Mind you, pathetically, Xanga could very well have been my best friend.

But it's time to move on... We all make new friends in life, don't we?

Maybe some old readers will stumble upon me again. Afterall, Xanga is like, omg soooo out of date. HAHA.

Brace yourself and welcome to the Pretty Little Things.

the beautiful things in life, especially in nature, that strike me with awe..
